德國製藥商費森尤斯卡比稱執法注射的藥劑中有兩種成分是他們的藥品，因此於上週二7日向法院提告，控訴執法機構非法取得自家產品。他們希望能及時阻止這場死刑的執行，因為如果自家藥品用於死刑將可能嚴重影響聲譽。然而，在處決的幾個小時前，法院駁回了費森尤斯卡比的提告。
費森尤斯卡比發出聲明表示，不會販售他們的產品給執法機關，另外也有越來越多藥廠同樣拒絕作這一類用途的販賣。對許多美國的執法機關而言，用藥的取得將變得更加困難。
